Today I had the lovely fortune of flying on a nearly empty and newly reconfigured Delta Airbus 319. As of last month, these jets have been updated with the faster and more reliable 2Ku wifi from GoGo in-flight.
I hadn't planned on connecting, but after a rave review from a bright, bubbly flight attendant I couldn't say no to jumping at the chance to Instagram a photo that I had just shot of the colorful morning sunrise out my exit row window.
What often takes at least 5 minutes-- long enough for the connection to be lost and a flight of failed image-post attempts to ensue-- I found my photo uploaded and I was already logging likes and comments withing a few seconds.
I was impressed so I did a bit of reading and here are a few specs:
- 2Ku provides consistent, nearly uninterrupted coverage anywhere in the world
- 2Ku is up to 20 times faster than the original GoGo wifi
- Delta plans to have their entire fleet of domestic and long haul aircraft outfitted by the end of 2018
Will you be flying Delta anytime soon? Have you used the new 2Ku wifi service? Let me know in the comments below. Have a great day, guys!
